This is the second chapter of the second volume and the ninth chapter overall of the My Dress-Up Darling manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda.
Summary[]
Wakana feels sick after working nearly non-stop for almost two weeks. He notes that the outfit for Marin isn't done. He thinks about Kaoru wanting his brushes and how Kaoru always works on painting even when he's taking a vacation. Wakana feels inadequate and that he'll never become a doll painter. He begins crying in the dark bedroom.
He remembers asking about doing something hard to his grandfather when he was young. His grandpa mentioned that while what he was working on was hard, the smiles on people's faces made it worth it. He showed Wakana some pictures of smiling customers back then. Wakana remembers Marin's smiling face and her kind words.
He gets up, wipes his face and gets to work on the costume. He's so determined that he uses his teeth to cut the thread when he can't find the scissors. The day before the event, Marin gets a text saying that her costume is done.
