This is the sixth chapter of the tenth volume and the seventy-seventh chapter overall of the My Dress-Up Darling manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda.
Summary[]
Nowa notices Marin looking forlorn. Marin confides in Nowa about her dilemma about Wakana, without mentioning his name. She asks Nowa what she would do if a friend "hypothetically" confessed to her. Without hesitation, Nowa answers that it wouldn't work out since they're friends. Unfortunately, this only adds more to her distress.
She makes her way to the Gojo residence. Wakana greets her at the door but asks her if she could come another time. He explains that he had cooked fried mackerel because he remembered her saying that she wanted to eat fried food. He figured that fish would be fine while she was dieting as long as she didn't eat it with any sauce, but he found out that she should avoid fried food altogether. As Wakana is explaining, Marin is moved at how Wakana bought oil and prepared fried fish for her after her mentioning it in passing. After hearing Wakana apologize for messing up with her diet, Marin assures him that she'll eat what he prepared no matter what and that she'll just make today a cheat day.
Later, Marin, Wakana and Kaoru are eating dinner together. She enjoys every bite and notices that the fish is stuffed with something. Wakana tells her that he added pickled plum and shiso leaves inside so she could enjoy it without sauce. She is touched by Wakana's thoughtfulness.
After dinner, Marin prepares to leave. She sadly asks Wakana to walk her home and he obliges. Wakana notices Marin's mood and asks if something was wrong. Instead of answering him, Marin asks if she could come over for dinner tomorrow again. Wakana doesn't think twice and tells her that she could. When they reach the station, he bids her goodbye while Marin looks at him longingly.
Inside the train, Marin thinks about how she couldn't even look at Wakana's face. She thought all this time that if they didn't work out, she'd be fine because that's something that couldn't be helped. However, with tears in her eyes, she realizes that she's actually afraid of it not working out. Sick of feeling helpless, she decides to stop worrying. She's determined to tell Wakana that she loves him after the Coffin meetup.
