This is the fourth chapter of the tenth volume and the seventy-fifth chapter overall of the My Dress-Up Darling manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda.
Summary[]
Marin and Wakana return to Marin's house. They had just spent some time waiting in the cold for a taxi to get home. Marin eyes Wakana's grocery bag and wonders which sex energy drink he bought. Just then, Wakana asks her if she wants to take a shower first, thinking that she needed to warm up after being in the cold for so long. However, Marin misinterprets this as him telling her to prepare for a "steamy" night together.
As Wakana continues to play Coffin in the living room, Marin is in the bathroom replaying everything Wakana just said to her. She rigorously brushes her teeth and carefully selects the underwear she thinks Wakana might like. After her bath, she tells Wakana that it's his turn to bathe.
While Wakana is in the bathroom, Marin starts to overthink and tries to understand what has gotten into Wakana. She wonders if he's made preparations for the night and remembers the condoms that they took from the love hotel a while back.
Inside the bathroom, Wakana is trying to relax. He stops himself from panicking by not thinking of tonight as a sleepover.
After his bath, he returns to the living room to start playing the game again. He finds Marin seated to the far end of the couch and asks her why she's so far away in the corner. Marin is surprised at how assertive he is, but in Wakana's mind, he's merely thinking about how much more comfortable the couch is near the middle than the edge. Marin looks into his eyes and thinks that he looks a bit commanding.
Wakana starts playing while Marin wonders if their "steamy" night is already starting. She asks herself how "it" is supposed to start, and if Wakana is supposed to say something first. She panics since she thinks they're moving way too fast. They haven't even dated, held hands, or kissed yet. In her reverie, Marin loses her balance, stumbles to the floor and hits her head. Concerned, Wakana rushes towards her and crouches down to see if she's okay. Wakana tries to reach out to her, but she sees him inching closer and panics. She tells Wakana that she needs to calm down and that she wants to eat something first.
After eating their dinner, Marin settles down and tells Wakana that she's not as nervous anymore. Meanwhile, Wakana is confused as to why she would be nervous at all. After a brief conversation about family, Wakana gets back to playing Coffin.
At 3:00am, Wakana peeks at Marin and sees her fast asleep. He carries her to her bedroom and returns to the living room. He starts drinking the energy drinks he bought and continues playing the game. He is nearing the ending when the resulting conversations in the game start sounding harsh no matter what he chose. He wonders if he made a wrong choice and if he should redo the game. However, all the saves are all gone so he carries on. The ending scenes start, and he is shaken by what he reads.
Later that afternoon, Marin wakes up in her bedroom. She realizes that nothing has happened between her and Wakana. She finds him in the living room, still awake and in a daze. She sees the energy drinks and pieces together that Wakana actually meant that he didn't plan on sleeping that night because he wanted to beat the game and not so they could have sex.
Wakana explains that when he was playing the game, he was too engrossed with the game's story since he wasn't making the costumes this time. He felt an explosion of empathy towards the characters of the game and is feeling wired. Marin offers to cook him some pancakes with butter and maple syrup, but he politely refuses, remembering the dinner scene and all the blood he saw.
