This is the seventh chapter of the ninth volume and the seventieth chapter overall of the My Dress-Up Darling manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda.
Summary[]
Wakana is face to face with Akira. He's surprised to see that she is a girl, and not a guy, which he initially assumed. Akira also apologizes since she also wrongfully assumed that Wakana was a girl.
Wakana remembers a post Akira had on her social media account and asked what character she was cosplaying as. Akira tells him that she wasn't cosplaying a particular character and explains that there are several types of cosplaying. One is copyright cosplaying where one wears costumes based on an anime or manga character. Another is occupational cosplay where one wears a specific uniform. Last is called original cosplay where one can make up a character or combine all their favorite things.
Wakana starts to tell her how much he is a fan of her work. She downplays her talent, saying that what she's done has been cliché and unoriginal. However, Wakana tells her that although what she just said may be true, her cosplay still made an impact on him and made him want to reach out to her because he found it impressive. Akira chuckles at how Wakana is passionate with his explanation and thanks him.
While Akira steers their conversation towards prop making, Wakana is thinking about how familiar Akira is and that he thinks that he has seen her somewhere before. Meanwhile, Akira tells Wakana that she's willing to share what she knows about the craft. Wakana starts to go on about his long list of questions that he prepared for her, when his phone rings. On the other line is Marin who asks where he is so they can meet up.
Marin finds Wakana and tells him that Suzuka had invited them to a cosplay afterparty. She notices Akira and greets her. However, Akira ignores her, refusing to even look at her. A little while later, Suzuka joins the group. They realize that Akira is Suzuka's friend, and that Wakana is the "girl" who was supposed to meet her. Suzuka blushes as she introduces herself to Wakana but snaps out of it and sends a message to Miyako stating that there was an emergency.
