This is the fourth chapter of the eighth volume and the fifty-ninth chapter overall of the My Dress-Up Darling manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda.
Summary[]
Marin changes out of the suit after the costume fitting. She and Wakana go over to the art room to work on the rainbow rose that Marin is going to use for the pageant.
In the art room, they start working on the rainbow rose. They use spray paint to color the white rose. However, the colors that they used all bled together and turned the rose black. They had used the coloring method detailed in a costume book they had, but in this case, it wasn't getting them the results that they wanted.
As Wakana is trying to figure out how to color the rose, Karen and Siera arrive at the art room because they wanted to see Marin in cosplay. Unfortunately, they were not able to see Marin in her suit since she already changed out of the costume. Karen notices Wakana holding the black rose and asks if that was supposed to be the rainbow rose. They were discussing how they were unable to make it when Siera interrupts and says that she can help them.
Siera leaves to get the things they need to make the rainbow rose and instructs them to go to the science lab while they wait. After some time, she arrives at the science lab with a new white rose. She demonstrates to them how to make a rainbow rose and they remark at how simple the procedure is. Wakana thanks her for making things easier for him, but she tells him that she's just glad because being counted on made her happy.
This leaves Wakana in deep thought. He always had a hard time relying on other people because he was afraid to be a burden to them. He realizes that no one has ever said that to him and that he merely made assumptions about other people's feelings. He sees that he was only complicating matters with his thoughts and that maybe, it was all right to keep things simple.
