This is the eighth and final chapter of the seventh volume and the fifty-fifth chapter overall of the My Dress-Up Darling manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda.
Summary[]
The class is busy with festival preparations. Marin receives the mechanics and rules for the cultural festival beauty pageant. She has to be ready 30 minutes before the pageant begins and she has to limit her pitch to one minute.
She asks Daia, Nowa, and Rune for help in coming up with a pitch. They decide to recreate the "champagne call"[1] in the "Prez-Host" series. After watching a video of it online, Marin makes an outline for her pitch. Daia and Nowa suggest that their whole class help out and be her chorus.
The four girls continue to gush over Rei-sama while Wakana listens as he works on the costume. Without realizing it, Wakana agrees out loud with what they were saying about Rei. Rune is happy that Wakana understands Rei's charm and was impressed by his dedication when he read the manga before designing the costume. However, Wakana admits that there were things that he could not understand, particularly those related to what the female characters in the manga were feeling.
Hearing this, Marin suddenly roleplays as a host in a host club and addresses Wakana as a "princess," which catches him off guard. Marin tells him that if she treated him like a princess, he might get how the female characters feel. Marin continues to roleplay and Nowa joins in, but as a costumer. Wakana reluctantly joins in, becoming very conscious of how close Marin is.
Shiki enters the sewing room and finds them in their roleplay. He asks for Wakana's assistance in moving a heavy sign. He also tells Nowa, Rune, and Daia that they were being pages.
This leaves Marin all alone in the sewing room. She finds the vest that Wakana is working on and sees the buttons that are yet to be sewn. Wakana returns to the sewing room and Marin jumps in surprise. Wakana tells her that their classmates wanted to practice the champagne call with her. She leaves in a hurry, sheepishly apologizing to Wakana and promising to fix something later.
Wakana realizes that Marin was trying to sew the buttons on the vest for him, but she messed up. He smiles fondly at Marin's failed attempt.
