This is the third chapter of the seventh volume and the fiftieth chapter overall of the My Dress-Up Darling manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda.
Summary[]
Wakana is at one of Marin's photoshoots as a reader model. He chats with the editor at the shoot and asks if it was alright for him to be there. She tells him that some models bring their boyfriends to these shoots because they have dates planned after, so it was fine.
As Wakana watches on, he thinks that Marin looks nothing like the usual Marin. The editor says that she goes over well with their magazine's readers since she's someone they can idolize because she seems to be out of reach. With this, Wakana thinks that Marin lives in a glamorous world that he knows nothing about.
His thoughts are interrupted when the editor asks him to convince Marin to model for their magazine exclusively. She thinks that Marin might be convinced if her boyfriend asked her. Wakana immediately denies being Marin's boyfriend and explains that they are just classmates.
Marin's photoshoot is finally over and she approaches Wakana and the editor. The editor praises her for doing a good job. Wakana looks at her and observes that she looks completely different from what he's used to, which makes him nervous. The editor notices that she's more dressed up than usual. Marin explains that she and Wakana are throwing a birthday party so she's going all out.
As the editor says goodbye to the two, she thinks that since the two of them are celebrating a birthday together, Wakana must be her boyfriend and that he might just be too shy to admit it.
In Marin's apartment, Marin and Wakana are celebrating the 16th birthday of Shizuku Kuroe, one of Marin's favorite characters. They are both dressed in Shizuku clothes and memorabilia. Wakana is slightly confused but he just goes with it. He realizes that Marin is actually the same old Marin. Her face might have looked different all made up, but she is still the Marin he knows.
