This is the first chapter of the seventh volume and the forty-eighth chapter overall of the My Dress-Up Darling manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda.
Summary[]
Nowa had asked Wakana and Marin if they were going out. Daia wonders out loud, as well since the two are always together. Shiki chimes in and says that some guys from another class saw them together at the festival. Marin doesn't deny it and says that she was jonesing for it since it's summer. Kensei and Nowa are offended that they did not get any invites to the festival, with Nowa asking once again if the two were dating. Wakana strongly denies it with his drink trickling down on his costume. Marin sees this and offers help him get cleaned up.
Outside their karaoke room, Marin gives Wakana a towel. Wakana goes to the bathroom while Marin waits for him outside the hall. As she is waiting, Marin feels down at how hard Wakana denied that they were going out. She remembers when Sajuna also asked the same question and his reaction was also the same. She concludes that Wakana must not really like her. Suddenly two men come up to her, asking if she had a minute to talk.
Meanwhile, as Wakana cleans himself up, his mind drifts to the events that happened earlier. He believes that even just thinking about going out with Marin is too presumptuous for him.
When he comes out of the bathroom, he sees Marin with her head bowed down, and one of the men giving her an earful, while the other one watches on. He remembers Daia saying that Marin keeps getting hit on, so he takes action. He reaches out and grabs the man's wrist and offers to fill in for Marin. Wakana says that he'll converse with him instead, so he should leave Marin alone.
The other man realizes that Wakana thinks that they were hitting on Marin. Marin informs him that they were her friends. They were stylists from her salon and that the man wasn't picking her up but was scolding her for how she neglected taking care of her hair and how she was half naked when it was cold outside.
After the two men leave, Wakana cringes at his mistake and apologizes profusely to Marin. Marin assures him that they weren't upset by what he did and were even offering to cut his hair. Wakana continues to feel bad for being rude to Marin's friends. Marin, however, finds him adorable, so she gives him a peck on the cheek of his rabbit costume. Wakana hears Marin's kiss but mistakes it as her being annoyed and clicking her tongue at him. She denies that she was annoyed, but when asked what the sound was, she blushes and refuses to answer him. He stops pressing her for answers when she sneezes and shivers, seeming to have caught a cold.
